Obituary for Heminia Malaga

Herminia "Minnie" N. Malaga, 57, of Hurley, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, January 22, 2017, at the Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley with her family by her side. She was born June 14, 1959 in Paulog, Ligao, Albay, Philippines and was the daughter of the late Ceferino Nueca and Monica Morauda. Minnie received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the Divine Word College of Legazpi City in the Philippines. As an accomplished artist, she loved painting, traveling, and family gatherings with karaoke. She was an active member of the Range Art Association and exhibited her paintings annually, winning multiple awards. She was also extremely fond of her pet pug, Jax. She was married to Bernard G. Malaga in Ligao, Albay, Philippines on May 5, 1988. Minnie is survived by her husband, Bernie, of 29 years; son, Karlo A. Malaga; daughter, Alexia Kyla Malaga; half- daughters, Deborah and Miluzka Malaga; niece, Paula Monica Loterte; ten sisters, Salvacion, Lani, Chedita Norminda, Adelaida, Leticia, Araceli, Lydia, Amelia, Zenaida ; and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren around the world. Minnie was a loving wife, mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, and friend in Christ. May she rest in peace. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January, 25 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary''s Catholic Church in Hurley. Fr. Frank Kordek will be the celebrant. Minnie''s family will receive relatives and friends at 1 p.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Wednesday. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the church basement hall.
