Obituary for Gene Anthony "Geno" Sbraggia

MONTREAL, Wis. Gene Anthony Sbraggia, 88, of Montreal, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

Geno was born July 02,1934 in Montreal, to Constantine and Victoria Sbraggia. A graduate of J.E. Murphy, Hurley in1952. Gene married his high school sweetheart Anna Mae Miller on June 26, 1954. Together they welcomed two children, Carol and Mark.

Geno worked various jobs throughout his life, including the Iron County Garage, City of Montreal, Montreal Mine, Harley Davidson, Unit Drop Forge, Staffler Industries Caterpillar, White Pine, Whitecap Mountains.

In earlier years, Geno enjoyed hunting, playing softball, and going out the 40. Later in life, he enjoyed his visits to the casino and watching his grandchildren play sports.


Geno was preceded in death by his parents Constantine and Victoria Sbraggia; His loving wife Anna Mae(Miller) Sbraggia; grandson, Sean Luoma; brothers-in-law, William Miller, Tom Klobucher; sisters-in-law, Sue Miller, Virginia and Sylvia Miller, Charlotte Sbraggia.

He is survived by his children, Carol (Jim) Vokolek, Mark (Paula) Sbraggia; grandchildren, Rebecca (Brandon) Holm, Melissa (Jay) Oja, Jesse (Brittney) Vokolek, Gene (Aryanna) Vokolek, (Kelly) Luoma, Nicole (Brandon) Pertile, Cory (Heather) Sbraggia, Samantha (Mark) Kreiner; great-grandchildren, Riley, Bennett, October, Snow, Maven, Gage, Sidney, Briana, Payton, Maleah, Braxton, Addisyn, Brailey, Casen, Emmy, Roman, Baylor; brother, Robert Sbraggia; brother-in-law, George Miller (Bernie); sisters-in-law, Pat Klobucher, Charlene (Tom) Lajcak, Mary (Fred) Ebli; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a very special man who always put his family first. No words can express how lucky we feel to have had him in our life and how much we will miss him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Hurley, preceded by visitation at 10 a.m.
