Obituary for Florence E. Hautanen

Florence E. Hautanen, 87, of
515 E. Vaughn St., Ironwood, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, in her
apartment.     She was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Ironwood,
daughter of the late Johannes and Matilda (Kinnunen) Hautanen, and attended
Erwin Central School in Erwin Township.     Florence was employed in housekeeping at Grand
View Hospital upon her retirement.     She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in
Ironwood, the Zion Quilters, and Women of the ELCA. She also belonged to the
Erwin Area Community Club. Florence loved to oil paint and share her art work
with her family, and do handwork, especially crocheting.      Florence treated her nephews, nieces,
great-nephews and nieces as if they were her own children. She was so proud of
their every accomplishment. Spending time at family gatherings was very special
to her.      She is survived by her nephews, Mark
(Virginia) Luoma, Park Falls, Wis., and Jake Hautanen and Jim (Wendy) Hautanen,
both of Ironwood; nieces, Joy Maki, Ironwood, Suzanne (Gregg) Raisanen,
Alexandria, Minn., and Colleen (Kevin) Corcoran, Ishpeming; brother-in-law,
Melvin W. (Dolores) Luoma, and sister-in-law, Jean Hautanen, both of Ironwood;
grand-nephews, Kurt and Sean Corcoran, John Luoma, Nathan Magdziak, and Alex and
Travis Hautanen; grand-nieces, Amy Luoma, Amber Backen, Jennie Stauffer, Abby
Stauffer, and Megan and Monica Maki; and one great-grand niece, Bailey Corcoran.
She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.      Besides her parents, Florence was preceded in
death by brothers, John and Jacob Hautanen; sister, Helen E. Luoma; and
sister-in-law, Lucy Hautanen.      Cremation has taken place.      Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Jan.
26, at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Francis
Strong officiating.      Committal will take place at the church, with
luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall.      Spring inurnment will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Ironwood.      Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 11
a.m. on Wednesday.      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
