Obituary for Evelyn M. Aho

Evelyn M. Aho, 72, of 14234 N.
Church St., Saxon, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in Hurley.      The former Evelyn Cox was born Aug. 24, 1937,
in Chicago, daughter of the late Harvey and Bernadine (Wilson) Cox, and attended
school there.      She married Donald R. Aho on Dec. 23, 1954, in
Chicago. They resided in Prairie View, Ill, where she was employed as a
teacher's aide, moving to Saxon in 1984 following her husband's retirement. She
then was employed in housekeeping at Whitecap Mountain and the Hurley Holiday
Inn, retiring in 1998. Donald preceded her in death on Dec. 22,
1996.      Evelyn enjoyed crocheting, word search puzzles
and watching TV. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and bowled in leagues in
Ilinois in her younger years.      Surviving are a son, Kevin, of Saxon; three
daughters, Mary (Todd) Jensen, Freedom, Wis., Kathryn Bails (Kenny Pierce),
Deerfield, Ill., and Vicki Oja (Dennis Kimball), Saxon; seven grandchildren,
John Bails (Angela Farlow), Deerfield, Kari (Carl) Davies, Round Lake, Ill.,
Chuck Bails, Brandy Pierce and Krystal Pierce, all of Deerfield, Angela Oja (Dan
Vitale), Minneapolis, and Kody Oja, Saxon; one great-granddaughter, Kira Davies,
Round Lake; three brothers, Peter (Margaret) Cox, Berwyn, Ill., William (Diana)
Cox, St. Charles, Ill., and John Cox, Lake Geneva, Ill.; two sisters, Annabelle
(William) Piecuch, Berwyn, and Marie Ludwig, Cicero, Ill.; numerous nieces and
nephews; and brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Kenneth Aho, Helen Aho, Richard and
Lyn Aho, and Gerald Aho, all of Ironwood, Mich., James Aho, Kenosha, and Delores
and LeRoy Holappa, Bessemer, Mich.      Besides her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Oja, in 1991; brothers, Frank, at
birth, Joseph, Bernard, Harvey "Skeets", and Donald Cox; sisters, Bernadette
Kurek and Patricia Matusewic; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Aho.      In accordance with Evelyn's wishes, cremation
has taken place.      Memorial services will be held Saturday, May
8, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in
Ironwood, with the Rev. Jean Rencontre officiating.      Committal will take place at the funeral home,
with luncheon to follow at the Saxon Community Center in Saxon.      Private inurnment will be in Lakeview
Cemetery, Saxon.      Relatives and friends may call at the funeral
