Obituary for Eva F. Coumbe

Eva F. Coumbe, 83, a
lifelong Ironwood resident, died Monday, March 22, 2010, in
Wakefield.      She was born June 7, 1926, in Ironwood,
daughter of the late Alfred and Nellie (Mathews) Coumbe, and graduated from
Luther L. Wright High School in 1944.      She was employed as a bookkeeper at the F.W.
Woolworth Co. in downtown Ironwood for many years, and later at Woolworth's in
Duluth, Minn. after the Ironwood store closed, retiring in 1986.      Eva was a member of Wesley United Methodist
Church in Ironwood, its United Methodist Women, and the former Deborah Circle.
She enjoyed knitting, walking and traveling to England.      Surviving are one nephew, several nieces, and
friend and neighbor, Marilyn Frank, of Ironwood.      Besides her parents, she was preceded in death
by her brother, Robert Harvey; sister, Louella Anderson; and brother-in-law,
Robert Anderson.      In accordance with Eva's wishes, cremation has
taken place.      A memorial service will be held Thursday,
April 29, at 2 p.m., at Wesley United Methodist Church, 500 E. McLeod Ave., in
Ironwood, with the Rev. Rosemary DeHut officiating.      Committal will take place at the church, with
coffee and cake to be served in the fellowship hall immediately
following.      Private inurnment will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Ironwood.      Friends may call at the church from 1 to 2

Ironwood.      Eva's family wants to convey their sincerest
gratitude to the staff at Gogebic Medical Care Facility for the wonderful care
Eva received during her years as a resident and to the staff at Westgate
Nursing, Rehabilitation, and Assisted Living Community for years prior.
