Obituary for Douglas M. "Bud" Anderson

Douglas M. ³Bud² Anderson, 86, of North
Hemlock Street, Ironwood, Mich., died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in Duluth.      He was born May 12, 1925, in Ironwood, son
of the late Phillip and Edna (Swanson) Anderson. Bud attended Ironwood schools
and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1943.      During World War II, he served in the U.S.
Navy from Aug. 13, 1943, until June 2, 1946. Bud received the World War II
Victory ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon.      Following his service, Bud returned to
Ironwood and attended Gogebic Community College. He was employed by Beauchamp
Electric Motors in Ironwood while in college. Bud received his degree in
automotive electronics. In 1953, with Jack Nichols, he owned and operated Jack
and Bud¹s Service until 1978. After selling his business, he went to work as a
mechanic for Ave¹s, in Hurley, until retirement in 1988.      Bud was a member of the Salem Lutheran
Church of Ironwood and the Bessemer VFW Post #3673. He was an avid bowler and
enjoyed throwing horseshoes. He was a member of the Range Horseshoe League.      On March 21, 1953, he was married to the
former Gael V. Guthrie at the First Lutheran Church in Duluth, by Pastor Morris
Wee. Gael survives.      Also surviving are three sons; Erick of
Omaha, Neb., Jon of Ironwood, and Steven (Mary) of Hurley; eight grandchildren,
Brooke (John) Anderson, Marquette, Sarah (Christopher Kelly) Anderson, Sam
Anderson and Christine Anderson, all of Omaha, Gabriel Anderson, Marquette,
Terra Nelson, Seattle, U.S Air Force, and Lauren Anderson and Miranda Anderson,
both of Hurley; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Haley, Collin, Jr. and Carson
Douglas; a brother, Phillip (Celestine) Anderson, Morristown, N.J.; and many
nieces and nephews.      Cremation has taken place.      A memorial service will be held at the
Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood, on Tuesday, June 28, at 11 a.m. Pastor Peggy
Rose will officiate.   Bud¹s family will
receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the
church on Tuesday.        Full military rites will be accorded by
the American Legion Post #5.       Funeral arrangements have been entrusted
with McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services.      If I could have only one voice to hear,
one smile to see, one hand to hold... I¹d want yours. There¹s
a deep and abiding happiness my heart never knew till I found you. I
want to return all the little kindnesses you shared with me day by day.
