Obituary for David O. Weber

David O. Weber, 72, of 240 E.
Harding Ave., Ironwood, Mich., our beloved father and grandfather, passed away
Thursday, Sept, 9, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.      He was born during a snowstorm at St. Mary's
Hospital in Oshkosh, Wis. on Dec. 15, 1937, son of the late Harry and Margaret
Weber. He attended both Milwaukee Lutheran and Custer High School in Milwaukee
and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee while working fulltime
at Allen Bradley to support his family. After college, he moved his family to
Park Falls, Wis. to work for the United States Forest Service. He located to
Ironwood in 1973 and continued to work for the US Forest Service until he
retired 35 years later.      His accolades won't be found in history books,
legends or myths but in the lives of those he touched. He was the caretaker of
his family, his parents, wife, children and grandchildren. He never failed to
help: scout leader, little league coach, civic volunteer and hockey volunteer.
He fought forest fires with the US Forest Service, was a wonderful writer, and a
masterful practical joker who loved classical music and was one of the owners of
the Old World Meats Market in Ironwood.      David is survived by his loving wife of 54
years, Judith Weber; three sons, Jon (Pam) Weber of Hayward, Wis., Matthew
(Georgia) Weber of Ironwood, and David (Barbara) Weber of Sault Ste. Marie,
Mich.; his daughter, Sara Weber, of Ironwood; and his beloved grandchildren,
Jeremiah, Cassandra, Nicole, Ashley, Noel, Matthew, Lauren and Davey
Weber.      At the family's request, cremation has taken
place.      Memorial services will be held Wednesday,
Sept. 15, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St.,
in Ironwood, with the Rev. Francis Strong officiating.      Luncheon will follow at the Iron Nugget in
downtown Hurley.      Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the
funeral home on Wednesday.      To view David's obituary online, sign the
