Obituary for Catherine V. Bruneau

Catherine V. Bruneau, 96, of
Gile, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, in Hurley.      The former Catherine Bogun was born Sept. 24,
1913, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Vakula) Bogun,
and attended Ironwood and Hurley schools.      She attended beauty school in Arkansas and was
employed as a beautician at the Morgan Manor in Ironwood. She then served two
terms as Iron County Treasurer, retiring in 1979.      Catherine was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Hurley. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, upholstering, vegetable and
flower gardening, crossword puzzles, canning, cooking and doing yardwork.
Everyone was always welcome in her home.      She was married to Bertrand N. Bruneau. He
preceded her in death on June 26, 1986.      Surviving are a daughter, Roxana "Roxy"
Rasmuson (John Malone), Mercer; two sons, William (Patty Questard), Kenosha, and
Thomas, Riner, Va.; six grandchildren, Laura, Aimee, Beth, Renee, Ronald and
David; five great-grandchildren, Mandy, Brandy, Andy, Krista and Ericka; three
great-great-grandchildren, Jaycie, Jayden and Maleah; a sister, Josephine
Pedergnana, North Greenfield, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Virginia Riordan, Sun City,
Ariz., and Viola Bruneau, Bremerton, Wash.; and numerous nieces, nephews and
friends.      Besides her parents and husband, Catherine was
preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, John and Adam Bogun; and sisters, Carolyn
Petty, Sally Ramsdell and Amelia "Amy" Huie.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Saturday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with
the Rev. Michael Hayden, celebrant.      Cremation will take place.      Luncheon will be served in the parish hall
immediately following the Mass..      Rite of Committal and private interment will
be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley.      Relatives and friends may call at the
McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, from 6 to 9 p.m.
on Friday, where liturgical prayers will be recited at 8 p.m., and again from 9:30 to 10:30
a.m. on Saturday.      Pallbearers will be William, Thomas, David and
