Obituary for Carol M. Furyk

Carol M. Furyk, 85, of the Town
of Carey, Hurley, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, in Hurley.      The former Carol Brunell was born May 20,
1926, in Winchester, daughter of the late Fred and Saima Brunell, and was raised
on the family farm in Kimball. She attended the Meadville School in Kimball and
graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley. She was employed at Sears-Roebuck
in Ironwood, Mich. and Simpson Electric Co. in Mercer.      Carol was a faithful member of the
Hurley Community Christian Church where she shared in all of the duties in that
congregation. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, beading, crafting, cooking and
baking, and was a member of the Oma South Carey Homemakers. She was always
trying to perfect her lasagna and her baked beans. She made the best ravioli and biscotti on
the range.  She especially loved spending time with her family.      She was formerly married to Richard Jerow and
John  Best. They preceded her in death.      She was married to Bernard F. "Nick" Furyk on
June 6, 1964. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2005.      Surviving are five children, Richard Jerow,
Hurley, Jackie (Bob) Lamberty, Mercer, Tony (Sandy) Furyk, Kimball, Nick Furyk,
Hurley, and Jeff Furyk, Monticello, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Bobbie (John)
Nuce, Ironwood, Lisa Lamberty and Lindy (Dennis) Pischer, both of Chippewa
Falls, Bruce Furyk and Amy (Mike) Randall, both of Kimball, Lynn (Chuck)
Levings, Ashland, Leah (Chris) Koski, Bessemer, Mich., and Bernie (Todd) Kokely,
Iron Belt; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Iris Brunell, Hurley;
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her spaniel "Scooter".      Besides her parents and husbands, she was
preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Wiiliam, Robert and Louis Brunell; and
a special great-granddaughter, Emily Pischer.      Out of respect for Carol's wishes, cremation
has taken place.      A memorial gathering for family and friends
will be held Monday, June 13, at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N.
Lowell St., in Ironwood, from 10 a.m. until noon, with a time for sharing
memories at 11 a.m.      Luncheon will follow at Manny's in
Ironwood.      Private inurnment will be in St. Mary's
Cemetery, Hurley.      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to the Hurley Community Christian Church, P.O. Box 360, Hurley, Wis.
