Brian A. "Scutta" Buccanero,
76, of Ironwood Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2010, at
Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation, and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood,
following a difficult illness and in the presence of his loving wife,
Gail.      Born at home on June 30, 1934 to Anne
(Erickson) and Alec Buccanero in Iron Belt, Wis., Brian was the second of five
children and grew up working on the family farm. He graduated from Iron Belt
High School in 1952 and also attended Gogebic Community College.      On Sept. 4, 1954, he was married to Gail Oksa
at the First Presbyterian Church in Hurley by the late Rev. C.L. Harries. They
raised their two sons, Scott and Steve, in Iron Belt as well.      Scutta had always been self-reliant, active
and hardworking. He was an industrious handyman able to envision and
problem-solve just about any construction dilemma. He enjoyed working with his
hands and built three of his family homes. He started and operated Buccanero's
Insulation and eventually returned to the farming business before retirement. In
his younger years, he was employed at White Pine Mine, Montreal Mine, drove bus
(White Pine bus and school buses), worked for Angelo Luppino, Inc., delivered
products for several local distributors, and even traveled to Milwaukee for work
to provide for his family.      Scutta enjoyed his family and friends while
traveling in his motor home, showing his antique cars, staying at the family
cottage (Lake Superior and Pine Lake), playing a mean card game of Smear,
hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and vacationing with his entire family. He
especially loved and looked forward to being with his grandkids. He was a member
of the First Presbyterian Church in Hurley, Wis. and subsequently the Hurley
Community Christian Church.      In addition to his wife, Gail, Scutta is
survived by two sons, Scott, Waterford, Wis., and Steve (Teresa), Mukwonago,
Wis.; and four grandchildren, Kristine and Stephanie, Waterford, and Alec and
Brian, Mukwonago. Other surviving relatives include his sisters, Loretta
(Bernie) Walquist, Ironwood, and Carol Linn, Iron Belt; and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.      Besides his parents, Scutta was preceded in
death by his brother, Michael "Mickey"; sister, Virginia "Gena" Erickson;
brother-and-sister-in-laws, Carl "Ole" Erickson, Richard "Kenny" Linn, and
Donald and Mavis Oksa; as well as special cousins, Dorothy Carlson and Ken
Sand.      Scutta will be deeply missed by his family and
friends for the love and precious memories he gave us.      Out of respect for his wishes, cremation has
taken place.      Memorial services will be held Thursday, Oct.
21, at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church in
Ironwood, with Rev. Francis Strong and Rev. Pamela Starr
officiating.      Lunch will be served after the service in the
church fellowship hall. All of our family and friends are invited to
attend.      Private committal services and interment
will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Iron Belt.      Scutta's obituary may be viewed online, and
