Betty L. Gutt, 82, of
Ironwood, died Monday, March 14, 2011, in Ironwood.      The former Betty L. Niemisto was born Oct. 22,
1928, in Erwin Township, Ironwood, daughter of the late Jacob and Ina (Niemi)
Niemisto, and attended Ironwood schools.      She was married to Andrew "Andy" Gutt on April
12, 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood, by the late Rev.
Anthony Shulick. Andy preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2002.      Betty was a member of Our Lady of Peace
Catholic Church in Ironwood, the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and the
Saxon Harbor Fishing Club.      She enjoyed stock car racing, going to the
casino, camping and the outdoors, and playing cards.      Surviving are a son, Thomas (Helen), Liberty,
Mo., and daughter, Patti (Duane) Meyer, Schofield, Wis.; a sister, Virginia
Ervin, Stillwell, Kan.; sisters-in-law, Jean Niemi, Ironwood Township, and Ann
Priante, Negaunee; a brother-in-law, Ronald Johns, Duluth, Minn.; numerous
nieces and nephews; and a special friend, John Moran, Iron River,
Wis.      Besides her parents and husband, Betty was a
preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heidi Alexandroni, in 1998; a brother,
Marvin Niemi; and a sister, Ruth Johns.      Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has
taken place.      Memorial services will be held Saturday, March
19, at 10 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in
Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin officiating.      A reception will follow in the funeral home
lounge.      Visitation will be one hour prior to the
