Obituary for Audrey J. Denocenti

Audrey J. Denocenti, 82, 
formerly of Ironwood, Mich., died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Bay Point Terrace
and Assisted Living Center in Hollywood, where she had resided for the past
seven years.      The former Audrey Sandsten was born June 14,
1929, in Ashland, Wis., daughter of the late Axel and Sylvia (Pohjola) Sandsten,
attended Ashland and Ironwood schools, and graduated from L.L. Wright High
School in 1947.      She was employed at the Hansen Glove Factory
in Ironwood for one year and the National Food Store for 8 1/2 years, retiring
as bookkeeper at Erspamer Lumber Co. in Hurley, Wis. after 5 1/2 years of
service in 1977.      Audrey was a member of Our Lady of Peace
Catholic Church in Ironwood, where she was active as a Eucharistic Minister and
CCD instructor, and served as dining room manager at St. Ambrose Church for many
years. She was also a former member of the Grand View Hospital Auxiliary,
enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress.      On Oct. 4, 1947, she was married to William J.
Denocenti at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood, by the late Msgr. J.B.
Moriarity. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1995.      Surviving are two daughters, Betty (Robert)
Ata, Davie, Fla., and Joan (Elbert) LaGrew, Monticello, Minn.; and three
grandchildren Joshua, Jordan and Jonas LaGrew.      Besides her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by a brother, John Sandsten, and sister, Elizabeth
Sandsten.      As per Audrey's wishes, cremation has taken
place.      Private family services will be held at a
later date.      Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery,
