Obituary for Arthur Edmund Marander

Arthur Edmund Marander, 92, a longtime resident of Bessemer, passed away Tuesday, December 3, at Ashland Health Services, in Ashland, WI.
Arthur was born May 12, 1927, in Bessemer, the son of the late Anton A. and Anna Irene (Anderson) Marander. He attended local schools and was a veteran of the Coast Guard. He spent most of his life in Bessemer as a dairy farmer. He was known for his prodigious knowledge of local and family history, his inventive and practical “patent pendings”, and his crafty sense of humor. As a first-generation descendent of Swede-Finns from Vaasa, Finland, he will also be remembered for his notable Swedish accent and connection to the old country. He will be missed by those family members, neighbors, and friends fortunate to have called him a friend.
Arthur never married and devoted much of his life to caring for his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard (1998) and sisters, Ruth Marander (1929), Isabelle Kastman Jones (2002), and Blanche Kivi (2008).
Arthur is survived by six nieces. Marilyn St. Louis of Kenosha, WI. Virginia Edgerton of Sturtevant, WI, Carole Ann Christensen of Sun City, AZ. Gail Graham-Fisel of Apache Junction, AZ, Linda Coss of Harrison, AR, and Karen Frayer of Apache Junction, AZ.
