Obituary for Anne A. Dixon

Anne A. Dixon, 94, of 125 So.
Curry St., Ironwood, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, in Ironwood.      The former Anne Dixon was born July 9, 1916,
in Ironwood, daughter of the late William and Margaret (Hocking) Dixon,
attended local schools, and was a graduate of Luther L. Wright High School.
     She was married to Harold "Ole" Dixon. They
resided in Ironwood for many years and retired to their summer home on Pike Lake
in Mercer, Wis. They then lived in Round Lake, Ill. for several years. Following
Harold's death, Anne returned to Ironwood in 1996 and resided on Curry St. with
her granddaughter and her husband, Linda and Marvin Shepherd.      Anne was a member of the Episcopal Church of
the Transfiguration in Ironwood. She enjoyed fishing on Pike Lake, puzzles of
all kinds, handwork and playing marathon games of pinochle.      Surviving are two sons, Harold, Mesa, Ariz.,
and Robert, Wisconsin; two daughters, Jean Davis and Joan Kuula, both of Round
Lake; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great
grandchildren.      Besides her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by a grandson, Mike Dixon; two great-grandsons, Jody and James
Shepherd; and several brothers and sisters.      Out of respect for Anne's wishes, cremation
has taken place and no formal funeral services will be held.      A private family memorial gathering will take
place at a later date.      Spring interment will be in the Mercer
Cemetery.      Arrangements were with McKevitt-Patrick
Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
