Obituary for Aino A. "Ina" Lehocky

Aino A. (Ina) Lehocky, 95,
passed away peacefully surrounded by members of her family, Dec. 17, 2010, in
Milwaukee at her daughter's home.      Ina was born in Iron Belt on May 18, 1915, one
of eleven children of Finnish immigrants, August and Maria (Nevala) Helmes. She
attended grade school in Iron Belt and graduated as valedictorian of her class
from Iron Belt High School. After graduation she worked as a bookkeeper in
Ironwood, Mich.         She married John Lehocky of Ironwood in 1941.
They moved to Waukesha where John taught high school and Ina devoted herself to
raising their son, Daniel, born in 1942, and daughter, Sharon, born in
1951.      She worked many years as a bookkeeper at
Waukesha Memorial Hospital and several other businesses in Waukesha and
Milwaukee. Ina enjoyed spending summers with family and friends at the cabin on
Lake Helen, near Winchester. She also enjoyed visiting with her family living in
Ironwood.      Ina was an independent person who accepted the
difficulties of life with strength. She enjoyed cooking and made especially good
apple pies. She also enjoyed bowling with friends in Waukesha and traveling. She
was strongly attached to her family and often helped members financially. She
will be missed.      Ina is survived by her daughter, Sharon

daughter-in-law Dana Barhard of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Lauren Reed of
Milwaukee and Indianapolis, Ind., and Brandon Reed of Milwaukee; a brother,
Alvar Helmes, of Battle Ground, Wash.; and numerous nieces and
nephews.      Ina was preceded in death by her husband John
in 1994; her parents; brothers, Edward in infancy, Toivo, Norman and Ahti
Helmes; and sisters, Tyyne Hendrickson, Toini Saari, Taimi Anderson, Ruth
Hendrickson and Lillian Anderson.       Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec.
22, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in

with luncheon to follow at Tacconelli's in downtown Ironwood.      Spring interment will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Ironwood, alongside her husband, John.      Visitation will be one hour prior to the
